What Is Dabigatran 150mg?
Dabigatran (brand name Pradaxa) is a prescription anticoagulant in the direct thrombin inhibitor class. It reduces the blood's ability to form clots by blocking thrombin, an enzyme central to the clotting process. Unlike warfarin, dabigatran does not require routine blood-level monitoring or dietary vitamin K restrictions. It is taken as an oral capsule, typically twice daily, and is used to lower the risk of stroke and to treat or prevent dangerous blood clots.
What Does Dabigatran 150mg Treat?
Stroke and systemic embolism risk reduction in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation
Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after initial parenteral anticoagulation
Treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE) after initial parenteral anticoagulation
Reducing the risk of recurrent DVT and PE
Prophylaxis of DVT and PE following hip replacement surgery
