What Is Hydroxychloroquine 200mg?
Hydroxychloroquine is a prescription tablet sold under the brand name Plaquenil. It was originally developed to prevent and treat malaria, and it is also FDA-approved for chronic autoimmune conditions including systemic lupus erythematosus, discoid lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. In autoimmune disease, it helps reduce inflammation, joint pain, and skin symptoms over weeks to months of regular use. It is taken by mouth, usually once or twice daily with food or milk to reduce stomach upset.

Hydroxychloroquine 200mg Dosage
Lupus: 200–400 mg by mouth daily (once daily or in two divided doses).
Rheumatoid arthritis: 400–600 mg by mouth daily initially; maintenance 200–400 mg daily. Do not exceed 400 mg/day (or 5 mg/kg/day) long term.
Malaria prophylaxis: 400 mg by mouth once weekly, starting 2 weeks before exposure and continuing 4 weeks after leaving the endemic area.
