CiproFloxacin HCL/Dexamethasone Otic 0.3-0.1% is a combination ear drop containing ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic that fights the bacteria causing ear infections, and dexamethasone, a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation and swelling in the ear. It is sold under the brand name Ciprodex and is applied directly into the ear canal. It is approved for acute otitis externa (commonly called swimmer's ear) and for acute otitis media in patients who have tympanostomy (ear) tubes. It treats bacterial ear infections only and does not work for viral or fungal infections.

CiproFloxacin HCL/Dexamethasone Otic 0.3-0.1% Dosage
Acute otitis externa: Instill 4 drops into the affected ear twice daily for 7 days.
Acute otitis media with tympanostomy tubes: Instill 4 drops into the affected ear twice daily for 7 days.
Warm bottle in hands 1–2 minutes before use; lie with affected ear up during and for 60 seconds after instillation.

Serious side effects

- Fungal or other secondary (non-susceptible) ear infection
- Hearing changes

Do not use if allergic to ciprofloxacin, other quinolones, or any component of the product
Contraindicated in viral infections of the ear canal, including herpes simplex
Stop use and seek care at the first sign of an allergic reaction or rash
Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria or fungi
