What Is Lidocaine 2.5% Prilocaine 2.5% Cream?
Lidocaine prilocaine cream is a combination topical anesthetic containing two numbing medicines, lidocaine 2.5% and prilocaine 2.5%. Applied to intact skin under an occlusive dressing, it temporarily blocks nerve signals to reduce pain from procedures such as injections, IV placement, and minor skin surgery. It is also used on genital mucous membranes before certain superficial minor procedures. It requires a prescription and should be used exactly as directed to avoid absorbing too much medication.
What Does Lidocaine 2.5% Prilocaine 2.5% Cream Treat?
Numbing skin before needle insertions (injections, IV placement, blood draws)

Lidocaine 2.5% Prilocaine 2.5% Cream Dosage
Minor dermal procedures: Apply 2.5 g over 20–25 cm² of intact skin under occlusive dressing for at least 1 hour before procedure.
Major dermal procedures: Apply 2 g per 10 cm² under occlusive dressing for at least 2 hours.
Genital mucous membranes: Apply 5–10 g for 5–10 minutes before procedure; no occlusive dressing required.
