Mesalamine DR 1.2GM is a prescription delayed-release tablet containing mesalamine (5-aminosalicylic acid), an anti-inflammatory medicine that acts directly on the lining of the colon. It is used to induce remission in adults with mildly to moderately active ulcerative colitis and to help keep the disease in remission. The delayed-release design allows the medicine to reach the colon before it is released. It is not a steroid and is taken by mouth, typically once daily with food.

Active ulcerative colitis: 2.4 g to 4.8 g (two to four 1.2 g tablets) by mouth once daily with a meal.
Maintenance of remission: 2.4 g (two 1.2 g tablets) by mouth once daily with a meal.
Swallow tablets whole; do not cut, crush, or chew.
