What Is Ramipril 5mg?
Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor sold under the brand name Altace. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and reduces the workload on the heart. Doctors prescribe ramipril to treat hypertension, to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in patients at high risk, and to improve survival in patients with heart failure following a heart attack. It is taken by mouth as a capsule, usually once or twice daily.
