Tamsulosin HCl is a prescription alpha-1 blocker sold under the brand name Flomax. It works by relaxing smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, which makes it easier to urinate. Take 0.4 mg (1 capsule) by mouth once daily, approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day.
If response is inadequate after 2–4 weeks, the prescriber may increase to 0.8 mg once daily.
