What Is Cefuroxime 500mg?
Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic sold under the brand name Ceftin. It treats a range of bacterial infections by interfering with the bacteria's ability to build cell walls, which stops them from growing. Cefuroxime is prescribed for infections of the sinuses, throat, lungs, skin, and urinary tract, as well as early Lyme disease. It is effective only against bacterial infections and will not treat colds, flu, or other viral illnesses.
What Does Cefuroxime 500mg Treat?
Acute bacterial sinusitis
Acute bacterial bronchitis (exacerbations of chronic bronchitis)
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis (strep throat)
Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
Early Lyme disease (erythema migrans)

Bronchitis or skin infections: 250–500 mg by mouth twice daily for 10 days
Sinusitis or pharyngitis: 250 mg by mouth twice daily for 10 days
Early Lyme disease: 500 mg by mouth twice daily for 20 days
