What Is Clindamycin 2% Vaginal Cream?
Clindamycin vaginal cream 2% is a prescription antibiotic applied inside the vagina to treat bacterial vaginosis, a common infection caused by an overgrowth of certain bacteria. It contains clindamycin phosphate, a lincosamide antibiotic that slows or stops bacterial growth. The cream is inserted with an applicator, usually at bedtime, for a course prescribed by your provider. It is the same medication sold under the brand name Cleocin Vaginal.

Bacterial vaginosis in non-pregnant women

Clindamycin 2% Vaginal Cream Dosage
Insert one applicatorful (5 g) intravaginally once daily at bedtime for 3 or 7 consecutive days (non-pregnant women).

Do not engage in vaginal intercourse or use tampons/douches during treatment
Cream contains mineral oil, which may weaken latex or rubber condoms and diaphragms for up to 72 hours after use
Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy unless clearly needed; consult your provider
For vaginal use only; avoid contact with eyes
