What Is Rifampin 300mg?
Rifampin is a prescription antibiotic in the rifamycin class, sold under the brand name Rifadin. It works by blocking an enzyme bacteria need to make RNA, which stops bacterial growth. Rifampin is most commonly used with other medicines to treat all forms of tuberculosis (TB). It is also used short-term to eliminate meningococcal bacteria from people who carry them without symptoms, helping prevent spread to others.

Pulmonary tuberculosis (in combination with other anti-TB drugs)
Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (in combination therapy)
Latent tuberculosis infection (as directed by a provider)

Rifampin 300mg Dosage
Tuberculosis: 10 mg/kg (up to 600 mg) by mouth once daily, as part of combination therapy.
Meningococcal carriers: 600 mg by mouth twice daily for 2 days.
Take on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.
