What Is Febuxostat 40mg?
Febuxostat is a prescription tablet that lowers the amount of uric acid in the blood. High uric acid can form crystals in joints, causing the painful flares of gout. Febuxostat works by blocking xanthine oxidase, the enzyme your body uses to make uric acid. It is taken long-term to manage uric acid levels and is not intended to treat a gout attack that is already underway.
What Does Febuxostat 40mg Treat?
