What Is Rizatriptan 10mg ODT?
Rizatriptan ODT is a prescription orally disintegrating tablet used to treat migraine attacks once they have started. It belongs to a class of drugs called triptans, which work by narrowing blood vessels around the brain and reducing the release of substances that trigger migraine pain and other symptoms. The ODT form dissolves on the tongue without water, which can be helpful if a migraine causes nausea. Rizatriptan treats active migraine attacks; it does not prevent migraines or reduce how often they occur.

Rizatriptan 10mg ODT Dosage
Adults: 5 mg or 10 mg by mouth (dissolve on tongue) at onset of migraine.
May repeat once after at least 2 hours if migraine returns.
Maximum 30 mg in any 24-hour period.

Rizatriptan 10mg ODT Side Effects
Common side effects

Serious side effects
Stop taking this medication and seek medical attention right away if you experience:
- Chest pain, tightness, or symptoms of a heart attack
- Signs of stroke (sudden weakness, slurred speech, vision changes)
- Serotonin syndrome (agitation, fast heartbeat, fever, muscle stiffness)
- Severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of face or throat, trouble breathing)
- Significant increase in blood pressure
- Severe abdominal pain (possible reduced blood flow to the intestines)
Warnings & Interactions
Do not use with a history of heart disease, heart attack, stroke, or uncontrolled high blood pressure
Do not take within 24 hours of another triptan or an ergot-type medication
Do not use during or within 14 days of an MAO inhibitor
Risk of serotonin syndrome when combined with SSRIs, SNRIs, or other serotonergic drugs
Overuse (10 or more days per month) may cause medication overuse headache
Patients taking propranolol should use the 5 mg dose (max 15 mg/24 hours)
ODT contains phenylalanine — caution in phenylketonuria (PKU)
