What Is Sumatriptan Tablets 50mg?
Sumatriptan is a prescription medication in the triptan class, sold under the brand name Imitrex. It is used to relieve acute migraine attacks in adults, including migraine pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. Sumatriptan works by activating serotonin (5-HT1) receptors, which narrows swollen blood vessels around the brain and blocks the release of pain-signaling chemicals. It treats a migraine once it has started; it does not prevent migraines or reduce how often they occur.
