What Is Albendazole 200mg?
Albendazole is a prescription antiparasitic medication in the benzimidazole class, sold under the brand name Albenza. It is FDA-approved to treat certain tapeworm infections, including neurocysticercosis (caused by pork tapeworm larvae affecting the brain) and hydatid disease (caused by dog tapeworm larvae affecting the liver, lungs, or lining of the abdomen). Albendazole works by blocking the parasite's ability to absorb glucose, which depletes its energy and leads to its death. It is taken by mouth, usually with food, and treatment length depends on the condition being treated.
