What Is Dapsone 25mg?
Dapsone is an oral sulfone antibacterial medication that has been used for decades to treat certain skin and infectious conditions. It is FDA-approved for dermatitis herpetiformis, a chronic blistering skin condition, and for leprosy (Hansen's disease), where it is typically combined with other medications. Dapsone works by interfering with bacterial folic acid synthesis and by reducing inflammation in the skin. The 25mg tablet strength allows providers to fine-tune dosing to the lowest effective amount.
