What Is Estradiol 1mg?
Estradiol is a form of estrogen, a hormone produced naturally by the ovaries. What Does Estradiol 1mg Treat?
Moderate to severe hot flashes and other vasomotor symptoms of menopause
Vulvar and vaginal atrophy (vaginal dryness, itching, burning)
Hypoestrogenism due to hypogonadism, castration, or primary ovarian failure
Prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis
Palliative treatment of advanced androgen-dependent prostate cancer
Palliative treatment of metastatic breast cancer in appropriately selected patients
Estradiol 1mg Dosage
Vasomotor symptoms / vaginal atrophy: 1–2 mg by mouth once daily; often cyclically (3 weeks on, 1 week off).
Osteoporosis prevention: 0.5 mg by mouth once daily, cyclically (23 days on, 5 days off).
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration; reassess periodically.

Do not use with known or suspected breast cancer or estrogen-dependent cancer
Do not use with active or prior blood clots (DVT, PE), stroke, or heart attack
Do not use during pregnancy or with liver disease
Women with a uterus generally need a progestin added to reduce endometrial cancer risk
CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., St. John's wort, rifampin) may reduce effectiveness; inhibitors may increase side effects
