What Is Isosorbide Dinitrate 10 mg?
Isosorbide dinitrate is a long-acting nitrate medication that widens (dilates) blood vessels, reducing the heart's workload and improving blood flow. It is FDA-approved to prevent angina pectoris — chest pain caused by coronary artery disease. Because its onset is not fast enough, it is not used to stop an angina attack that has already started. The 10 mg tablet is taken by mouth on a schedule set by your prescriber, usually with a daily nitrate-free interval to prevent tolerance.
