What Is Silvadene 1% Cream?
Silvadene is the brand name for silver sulfadiazine 1% cream, a topical antibiotic that combines silver with a sulfonamide (sulfa) medicine. It works by damaging the cell membranes and cell walls of bacteria on the skin, helping to control a broad range of bacteria and some yeast. Silvadene is applied directly to burn wounds as an adjunct to standard burn care to reduce the risk of wound sepsis. It is available by prescription only and is typically used under the guidance of a healthcare provider.

Silvadene 1% Cream Dosage
Apply topically to cleaned, debrided burn area to a thickness of approximately 1/16 inch once or twice daily using sterile technique.
Keep the burn covered with cream at all times; reapply to any areas where it is removed.
Continue until healing is well advanced or the site is ready for grafting.

Serious side effects
